The 2024 Hyundai Palisade is on our 2024 Editors’ Choice list thanks to its nearly flawless combination of value, usefulness, and luxury. Although it has the same foundation as the excellent Kia Telluride, it has a distinct appearance. A smooth-running 3.8-liter V-6 and an eight-speed automatic gearbox power all Palisades; all-wheel drive is an option; otherwise, the Palisade powers the front wheels. The Palisade’s calm and laid-back on-road manner makes it an excellent option for long-distance travel, even though it might not be as fun to drive as the Mazda CX-90. Its luxurious cabin has three rows of cosy seats and upscale finishing. To make everyone feel at home, Hyundai has incorporated a tonne of convenience and connectivity amenities throughout the cabin. With extras like second-row captain’s seats, finer detailing, and quilted leather upholstery, the high-end Limited and Calligraphy variants elevate the experience to almost luxurious levels.
A fresh top-spec With its distinctive black wheels, black roof rails, black leather inside, and blacked-out exterior trim, Calligraphy Night Edition trim joins the Palisade lineup for 2024. This year’s Palisade will only see a few minor improvements, but the base SE grade now comes equipped with dual-zone front and single-zone rear automated temperature control. The Limited gets ambient interior lighting, while the XRT now has rear-side window blinds.

An eight-speed automatic gearbox is standard on the Palisade, which has a 3.8-liter V-6 engine. The smooth ride and peaceful cabin of the Palisade were emphasised during our test drive of a loaded Calligraphy model throughout Asheville, North Carolina. We also tried some minor off-roading and were pleased to find that the large SUV could manage terrain that is beyond what you’ll find in the urban jungle. Tough and burly is the goal of several three-row crossovers. Others provide athletic performance. Instead, the Palisade offers the highest level of competence in a calm, elegant setting. It lacks personality but has the same cosy, manageable poise that would make a fantastic minivan.
However, we don’t intend to downplay the skill. For an SUV, the Palisade handles and rides rather nicely. Even more noise is kept out of the cabin with available laminated windows. This large crossover can be accelerated with ease thanks to the 3.8-liter naturally aspirated V6 engine’s 291 horsepower and 262 lb-ft of torque (if not exhilarating thrills). In an era of turbocharged four-cylinders, this huge displacement engine sounds conventionally rich and smooth when mated with a smooth-shifting eight-speed automatic gearbox. Some drivers will choose the “Sport” driving mode every time, which modifies the steering, throttle, and gearbox characteristics.

While the Limited and Calligraphy have second-row captain’s chairs that decrease passenger capacity to seven, the SE and SEL trims can accommodate eight passengers.
